A Bold New Visual Direction for SV Community Media

Silicon Valley Community Media

Silicon Valley Community Media is the non-profit extension of Ding Ding TV-The voice of Silicon Valley Asian Americans. Their mission is to empower and unify all AAPI & ethnic leaders across the US.

The Challenge

SV Community Media had been operating previously as part of Ding Ding TV but now they were looking to establish a visual identity and online presence that would be separate from but link to the parent company. The ultimate goal was to attract more donors and awareness to their initiative. They needed a simple but dynamic website that explains who they are as an organization, as well as what they are doing, what they have done in the past and their future vision.

The website needed to emphasize their accomplishments and long record of serving the community. They also struggled with improving the grammar on the website and making the copy more engaging.

As part of the project, they also need a visual identity for both SV Community Media, and Asian American Stories which is a program that is dedicated to telling the stories of Asian contributions to American society and culture.

The Solution

The design direction conveys the dynamism and passion behind everything that they do.

The SV Community Media logo incorporates hands coming together to emphasize the diversity or community. The color scheme is dynamic with bold colors that represent US patriotism. This same look and feel also extends into the Asian American Stories logo which combines the same patriotic color scheme with a bold typographic treatment. It incorporates a symbol into the letters that combines the US flag with a speech bubble and camera which conveys what the program is about in an interesting way. Its about freedom of speech, patriotism, fostering dialogue and media journalism.

The website is also designed to show that they have been operating for a long time and emphasize their accomplishments and contributions to the community.

The new visual direction for SV Community Media is bold and dynamic. It combines patriotism with community and togetherness..
