Shedding Light on The Complexities of Psychotherapy

Telling The Story of A Wounded Healer

Indigen: Journeys of A Wounded Healer is the eye-opening story of Khadijat- A spiritually gifted child who rises from the ashes of trauma and embarks on a journey towards self-discovery and growth.

The Challenge

Indigen is an eye-opening book that reveals some of the severe traumas and mythical experiences that the author experienced at an early age. It is both a memoir and a guide for people who would like to learn more about spirituality, psychotherapy, and healing modalities. The author was looking to release her first book in paperback and ebook. Although she had no prior readership, she had still attracted a network of supporters from her current practice as a psychotherapist. She needed to translate the subject matter of the book into a cover that truly captures the essence of the message. She also needed guidance through the self-publishing process to avoid the common issues that a lot of authors fall into.

The Solution

We identified the key themes in the book, such as wholeness, spiritual enlightenment, raising consciousness, and bridging gaps. We wanted readers to connect with the story of the child and by incorporating the silhouette of the little girl, we created more intrigue while allowing readers who have experienced trauma to relate to the girl on the cover. The cover shows how children may have very complex lives although they may seem simple on the outside. Inside the girls mind is a vast ocean of stars above and a silhouette of her older self, journeying through past memories.

A dynamic author website was developed to match the book and draw attention to the new release. Keyword research was also conducted to ensure that the book gets found on Amazon. It was launched in both paperback and reflowable epub. As part of our promotional strategy we leveraged Facebook ads, press release distribution, and podcasting. We listed the book in popular promotion sites and also reached out to local bookstores to schedule local book signings.

The book cover design captures the essence of the book which is filled with dream visions and inner explorations. It conveys the inner journeys and life transitions in a simplified way. The deep purple and cosmic theme conveys the spirituality, mystery, and science. The light ahead creates a strong focal point that draws the eye.

We successfully launched the book on Amazon, as well as Google Play Books, Kobo, and Apple Books. She has also been featured on her first podcasts and her Facebook page has grown by approx. 6190%. Her first press release attracted 3604 views and 472 targeted influencers in her niche within the first 2 months. This led to her book being picked up by 129 media outlets and organizations including the Washington Psychiatric Society, The Washington Daily News, The Tallassee Tribune, The State Journal, and more. Her book also ranked at #11 as an Amazon Best Seller in the religion and philosophy category. Feel free to click here to view the official website.
