A good tagline must help customers recognize and remember you. It should also help you clearly convey your message, show a sense of personality and support how you position your company. There are many effective types of taglines for businesses to consider. Below I have outlined three of them that you can look into when deciding on a tagline or slogan ideas as part of your brand strategy. I have also included some tagline examples from famous brands for inspiration.
1.) Descriptive
This is the most popular form of tagline, in both the commercial and non-profit sector. These kinds of taglines describe the brand, product, service or experience in a simplified and creative way that conveys a sense of personality. Descriptive taglines could describe the experience, the promise or the unique value or benefit your company offers. Below are some great examples from popular brands that you might be familiar with.
"Shave Time, Shave Money"
Dollar Shave Club
"Expect More, Pay Less"

"Imagination At Work"
General Electric
"It's Finger Lickin' Good"
KFC
"That Was Easy"
Staples
"Making Moments Matter"

"Fighting For Air"
American Lung Association
"You're In Good Hands"
Allstate Insurance
2.) Imperative
Imperative taglines demand a call to take action. They can also have a motivational tone behind them or create a sense of curiosity, interest, desire or even urgency if used effectively. Below are some great examples of imperative taglines from Sprite, Nike, Apple and AT&T.
"Obey Your Thirst"
Sprite
"Live More"

3.) Superlative
Superlative taglines are more focused on the experience. These kinds of taglines position your company as the best in your industry or in a specific category. They emphasize the best-in-class experience that customers are willing to pay a premium for. They also give customers a sense of esteem by being associated with the premium brand. But be sure that your claim is believable and your brand doesn’t sound too cocky or over-hyped. Below are a few examples of memorable superlative taglines.
"The King Of Beers"
Budweiser
"There's No Better Way To Fly"
Luftansa Airlines
"America Runs on Dunkin"
Dunkin Donuts
"The Best A Man Can Get"

BMW
"The Happiest Place On Earth"

In conclusion, There are other types of taglines for businesses but 3 effective types that you can consider are Descriptive, Imperative and Superlative. Your tagline could also be a mixture of all three! Remember to keep it short, simple, and memorable but avoid being too generic or cliche.
