PLGD (Plugged) Is a startup leisurewear apparel brand that is designed for the premium luxury streetwear market or customers who are willing to pay a little extra for quality goods. It’s about being plugged into all aspects of life and being seen as the source for what people need.
The Challenge
PLGD is a DMV apparel brand but looking to go broader in the future to reach everyone and extend into other subcategories and editions to appeal to different customer types. There is also the possibility of having a physical store location in the heart of DC. It is primarily designed for teens and young adults and they needed a separate edition designed for younger teens as well. The brand needed a visual identity that will be bold and allow for easy retention when seen on both small and large displays.
Competitors: EATS(Elevate All The Time), Major DC, Crooks n Castles, other local DMV streetwear brands
The Solution
We chose PLGD or Plugged because the name conveyed a sense of uniqueness and was able to work as an acronym. We decided on a solution that was designed to be flexible enough to convey a premium look but still pass for both sports and leisure wear.
The logo incorporates a plug in a way that still represents streetwear and does not look like a tech company. It was designed to work both online and offline from fitted hats, to polo shirts and hoodies. It is designed to be a bold emblem that conveys the premium quality. It is responsive enough to work as a word mark or a single letter signature.
The Finalized visual identity is a bold and scaleable emblem that conveys the premium quality in a way that could represent both leisure wear and high-end streetwear.
With a new visual identity, PLGD is now ready to launch and will be releasing other editions in the future.
