A Memoir of Finding Hope Through Hard Times
The Epitome of Kimmy: Accept & Embrace It All, By Kimberly Anne Bell is a testimony of finding resilience, embracing your destiny and overcoming adversity. It is an eye-opening memoir that takes you beneath the surface into some of the harshest realities of life from the perspective of an abandoned little child in kinship care growing up into adulthood.
The Challenge
The author was looking for a plan to launch the book in both ebook and paperback in time for her birthday in August. The goal was to reach as many people as possible with her message and hopefully eventually turn her story into a film. She needed a custom solution that included both the cover and interior layout design, as well as editing, proofreading, web services, email-marketing, social media support and ongoing consultations to navigate the world of self-publishing.
The book needed to be properly proofread to ensure that it meets the standards. It needed a design that will allow it to stand out on the shelf. It also needed to be submitted to the library of congress and copyright.gov. The author will be releasing other books in the future so she needed help with growing an audience.
The Solution
The project started with an an in-depth discussion into the book, it’s themes and subject matter, with the author. Research was also done into other books and authors in similar categories. This helped to determine the book cover design direction as well as our pricing and promotional strategy.
The cover design has a good focal point. It conveys a clear message and mood. It also meets genre expectations. The interior layout is legible and ensures a great reading experience when accessed from any device.
An author website was developed for people to visit and learn more about the author and the book. It also allowed them to contact the author for speaking engagements or link to her book. An author blog was also included in the site to help drive organic traffic and engagement.
A series of content pieces were created and shared in Facebook groups. Mailchimp was used to keep in touch with readers and the book was also displayed in other promotional sites like Goodreads, AllAuthor, Book Reader Magazine and Goodkindles.
We will be reaching out to more and more speaking opportunities, podcasts and radio shows. Within the first week of the book launch we were able to have the author featured. To listen to her first podcast episode, you can click here.
As a result, the author is now an international speaker. Through our brand marketing efforts, she is invited to a new speaking engagement or virtual summit at least once a month on average. The plan is to start local and go international over time to touch the hearts of millions. She has gotten her first magazine feature on Authentic Insider. She is also regularly invited to be interviewed on podcast interviews and shows every week. She has been broadcasted on Spotify, Youtube, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Audible, TuneIn Radio, Youtube and more. This helped to get her message to an even broader audience.
