Raising Awareness for Erase PTSD NOW

Erase PTSD NOW is a 501 C-3 Non-Profit Organization that is combating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder through education and fundraising for treatments.

The Challenge

Their goal is to raise funds for research and treatment as well as awareness for their medical program. They were undergoing a name change from Global Post Traumatic Stress Injury Foundation(GPTSIF) to Erase PTSD Now. They were looking to visually differentiate their brand from other nonprofits and needed a visual identity that is flexible enough to adapt to both on screen and print scenarios.

This is an ongoing project that would also include logo development, medical illustrations, web services and both print and digital campaigns in the future to attract donors.

Target Audience: Primarily Donors looking to contribute to PTSD treatment, military veterans suffering from PTSD and women who are victims of abuse or traumatic relationships.

The Solution

The project began with research into PTSD and themes that describe the brand such as the scientific nature, the speed and precision that will be associated with the treatment. We tried to avoid the awareness ribbon because research showed that it was overused and most people didn’t know what color to associate to which cause. The criteria was that the design solution had to be very different looking from what is out there but still fit a non profit. It also had to function as a cohesive system.

The final solution was a typographic approach that could creatively adapt to a variety of applications. The logo was designed with the letters cut at 45 degree angles and it also flips at 45 degrees into a diamond shape that multiplies into faded patterns. The system also provides a grid framework for structuring content in social media and other forms of advertising.

The responsive visual identity uses a typographic approach with letters that cut and flip at 45 degree angles into a diamond shape that forms patterns. This aids memory and makes it more adaptive. The system also provides a grid framework for structuring content in a way that feels cohesive.
