A book to inspire, uplift and empower every reader.
“Joyfully In His Care: Women Living In All Circumstances” Is a product of Project HerStory and supported by the Women’s Ministry of FBHP. It is a self-help/spiritual book of testimonies with real life stories by ordinary women to inspire, uplift, and empower every reader.
The Challenge
“Joyfully In His Care: Women Living In All Circumstances” Is a book full of testimonies of love, poverty, spousal abuse, job discrimination and slander, salvation, healing, miracles, finding God, hearing the voice of God, loneliness and heartbreak. In order to effectively publish, they needed an eye-catching book cover design as well as an interior layout design for both print and ebook. They also needed technical support to navigate the Amazon platform. Proofreading and printing was also outsourced to local companies and we were able to work collaboratively to meet deadlines and requirements.
The Solution
The project began with a deep discussion with the key decision makers to help guide the design direction. A moodboard was developed based on the subject matter, form and color schemes that fit the story we are trying to tell. The moodboard was also discussed with the client and gave a lot of insight into their aesthetic preferences. We decided that the cover will explore different facial expressions and show the transition from different negative to positive emotions.
The cover uses a custom cursive script. The next font chosen was Georgia because of its unique balance of classic elegance and legibility. This made it suitable for both the cover and the interior layout. Regular screenshare appointments were scheduled with the client as the project advanced. This allowed us to stay on the same page. The finalized design and layout was optimized for both print and ebook.
The book cover design for "Joyfully in His Care" conveys the phases of emotions that women experience as they go through the trials and tribulations of life. It allows the reader to relate and see herself in the design.
