BirdSongs Garden Nursery is a small plant business based in the Poconos that offers some of the finest deer resistant plants and shrubs.

The Challenge

The client was looking for a fresh new brand identity design that reflects the beauty of nature, the comfort and the enjoyable experience of visiting the nursery. It needed to feature a bird symbol and also needed to show the quality and emphasize that the brand is focused on deer resistant plants and shrubs. The visual identity design will include a new logo optimized for social media, websites and printing, as well as business cards.

The Solution

The Bird symbol is based on the American Goldfinch which is a songbird that is commonly found in the Poconos in the spring and summertime. It spreads its wings gracefully with a light branch in its beak. The bird symbol was illustrated in a vintage style to give the logo a classic touch.

The wordmark uses a customized version of Ariana Violeta. It was customized to look more balanced visually. Ariana Violeta was paired with Yeseva One to enhance the sense of balance as well. The client also wanted to emphasize that their plants and shrubs were deer resistant so that needed to be included in a way that would be legible on business cards.

The color scheme is derived from the tones of Black Eyed Susans which are deer resistant flowering plants. The tones help to evoke a sense of springtime or the summer in the Poconos. Altogether, the visual brand identity feels very warm and welcoming with a touch of elegance. It finely captures the environment, tone and seasons.
